The Dark Knight is supposed to be a film about Batman, but arch-villain The Joker steals the show in this thrill-a-minute ride that's damn near the Movie of the Year.

That's thanks to Heath Ledger's now infamous turn as trick-playing baddie The Joker, an "agent of chaos" that causes havoc at every turn. His evil grin will send shivers down your spine.

But it's not just Ledger that makes The Dark Knight so great. Everything about it is superlative, from the over-the-top stunts to Bale's gruff-voiced Batman and Aaron Eckhart's role as icky Harvey Two-Face.

Director Christopher Nolan has created a darker, more violent and wickedly evil follow-up to Batman Begins. The only question now is if he can do it again.

Extras: The two-disc package is a fan-friendly affair, with in-depth features about stunt work, the Imax film sequences, and pretty much everything else.

It's bound to keep any fan busy over the Christmas holiday break.
